Moncaup, le village des fontaines

Moncaup has a wealth of exceptional hydraulics. In 1833, the city council decided to build around twenty fountains to ensure the water supply to all parts of the village. The fountain is sometimes supplemented by a drinking trough or a wash house, then the water resumes its course towards the Adour. The quality of the materials: stone, brick, pebble and wood, and the workmanship: facade stones, brick vaults and pebble walls, demonstrate a know-how that has now disappeared.

4 hiking trails of 3 to 7 km lead you to the discovery of 9 fountains, which sometimes have a drinking trough or a wash house. You will cross the vineyards and the woods, while enjoying superb views. Also discover the church lit by 7 stained glass windows signed René-Marie Castaing.
