If you want to enjoy a calmer natural body of water, in the aquatic leisure centers, you will find games for all ages. A few kilometers from Béarn des Gaves, go to Aqua-Béarn (fr), Oloron-Sainte-Marie or the Orthez-Biron leisure center.

Go hiking, cycling or horseback riding

Béarn des Gaves conceals little corners of paradise lost in the middle of nature. To find hiking or cycling, consult the site of the tourist office "Béarn des Gaves" which provides circuits around Navarrenx, Salies-de-Béarn or Sauveterre-de-Béarn . If we can only cite one, the pretty village of Salies-de-Béarn has rehabilitated the old railway line in Voie Verte . With its 16 km and its well-distributed access points, it is a beautiful walk that lends itself to walking as well as hiking.

Discover the beautiful villages of Béarn des Gaves

Salies-de-Béarn, nicknamed the “green Venice of Béarn”, is located on the Saley. You will admire a typical heritage around the river: mill, bridge, wash house... It also has a geological curiosity, a source of salt water which allowed it to develop a salt industry and hydrotherapy. Sauveterre-de-Béarn is a hilltop village overlooking the Gave d'Oloron. Its strategic position was well exploited in the Middle Ages to defend Béarn and medieval remains are still visible in the city. The view over the valley, crossed by the Gave, deserves a few shots.

In the south of Béarn des Gaves, Navarrenx is one of the “most beautiful villages in France”. It must be said that its military heritage and its fortifications are exceptional. This bastide of ancient Navarre has a long history to tell you. You will also take a nice walk there where you can admire the city from the top of its ramparts.
