    • The unforgettable experience of the Artouste train and outdoor mountain activities

Nestled in the heart of the Pyrenees, the adventure begins with the legendary Artouste train, one of the highest in Europe. This little marvel winds its way up the mountainside, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the peaks. On board, every turn is a living postcard: marmots, wildflowers, and mountain landscapes punctuate the journey to Lake Artouste, a true high-altitude gem.

But the experience doesn't end there! A wide range of outdoor activities are available to you to extend the magic of the mountains.

Thrill-seekers will love the unique zipline with its twists and turns, which zigzags between the trees and soars over the slopes near Lake Fabrèges. For a more down-to-earth but equally fun experience, try mountain karting or mountain biking, with routes adapted for all levels, from mountain trails to fast descents.

Looking for a refreshing break and some relaxation? Head to Lake Fabrèges, where canoes, pedal boats, and paddleboards await you, ready to glide across crystal-clear waters surrounded by fir trees and mountain peaks. Whether you want to let off steam, explore, or simply enjoy the scenery, it's the perfect place to reconnect with nature.

Between thrills and peaceful moments, the world of Artouste promises a complete experience in the heart of nature, to be enjoyed with friends or family, for memories etched forever.

Take a trip through the Ossay Valley, located in the French Pyrenees. The Artouste train is the highest in all of Europe, traversing alpine landscapes at an altitude of over 2,000 meters. The 10km journey takes us back in time, specifically to 1914, when the Ferrocarrils du Midi company created a program to build hydroelectric power plants to electrify all the railway lines in the Pyrenees. In 1920, to facilitate the construction of the Artouste dam, they decided to build a railway dedicated solely to the construction work, starting from the Sagette area. Thus, for eight years, the Artouste train transported men, materials, fuel... however, this changed when the railway became a purely tourist attraction.

Anyone who doesn't experience this attraction and ride this train is missing out. A fantastic experience for the whole family. Spectacular views and, with a bit of luck, you might even see marmots.

A magnificent little train ride through the Artouste mountains! The staff were very friendly (except for the people at the stations, who were a bit too rushed and unpleasant, even though it's a tourist train!). If you want to go to the beautiful lake, don't linger too long because you only have 1 hour and 20 minutes for the round trip, which is a bit tight, and the climb is steep! Wear sneakers... The restaurants at the train's departure and arrival points are very good, with magnificent views, and the staff are very friendly. A special mention goes to the souvenir shop at the return train station; the staff are lovely! We loved this unusual outing for the whole family. The scenery was breathtaking, and the high-mountain lake was stunning. We saw marmots and birds of prey, and if you're very lucky, you might even see chamois! Truly an outing not to be missed for young and old, and even dogs!
