Morlanne Discover a charming Béarn village and its medieval gems

Morlanne is a medieval village that is now a thousand years old. Its origins date back to feudalism, but it was only during the Hundred Years' War, when Gaston Fébus chose Morlanne as a defensive stronghold (because the English were nearby at Arzacq) that the village came to be built.
The village then consisted of two settlements: one around the castle, the "castetbieilh," and the other around the church. Gaston Fébus had the castle square built to control the population census. This part of the village was then called the "castelnau." He had the village and the church fortified, which would become an integral part of the village's defenses.
The village is not lacking in riches! A brochure takes you to discover the 14th-century fortified castle, the main street characterized by its construction typical of new towns in the Middle Ages (also called "carrère"), wash fountains, the 13th-century fortified church, as well as the Belluix house (built at the end of the 15th and beginning of the 16th centuries).
