Lescar is a town rich in history and charm, located in Béarn.

A bit of history

Lescar was one of the first capitals of Béarn in the Gallo-Roman period, under the name of Beneharnum. Its historical importance is reflected in its architectural heritage, notably its Romanesque cathedral Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption.

A remarkable architectural heritage

Lescar Cathedral is a true jewel of Romanesque art. It houses the tombs of the sovereigns of Navarre, including the grandparents of Henry IV. The streets of the town are also dotted with half-timbered houses and medieval buildings, testifying to its rich past.

An exceptional natural setting

Located at the foot of the Pyrenees, the city benefits from a privileged natural environment. It offers beautiful walks and panoramic views of the mountains.
