Directions Sauvagnon - A historical walk in Sauvagnon, between nature and heritage

About

  • English
    • Between parks & pretty stones

The 700-meter historic heart of the village invites you to stroll through this authentic village with lovely views of the Pyrenees. Discover the history of Sauvagnon, beautiful Béarnaise houses, the Lechaud park and its lovely rose garden, the Sainte Marie-Madeleine church and its Mauméjean stained-glass windows, the oratory passage with its pretty well, the old presbytery with its beautiful stone walls and a market hall adjoining a charming fountain, overlooking a small park and its sundial…

During your walk, you will see a photo exhibition dating from 1900 to the present day on the walls of the houses, which partly retraces its history. It was created thanks to the participation of the oldest families in the town: wedding photos, post-war class photos, scenes of farm life or everyday life, such as at the legendary Café Malabat, currently being restored.

A little further on, 1.5 km from the town hall, discover the Bellehigue park, a true haven of greenery on the banks of the Luy de Béarn.

The walk is accessible to everyone, on foot, by bike and with a stroller, free of charge and all year round.

Ask for the detailed circuit brochure at the tourist information offices in Arzacq, Morlaàs and Lembeye.
