Marilyn is a native of Béarn and Patxi of the Basque Country. They both love the rolling hills of Béarn, a land of nature and character. They travel to the four corners of France to gain professional experience in the restaurant and hotel industry. Their steps led them to the Lycée hôtelier de Toulouse, then Patxi benefited from great experiences in renowned establishments with great chefs in Paris, Bordeaux, Saint-Émilion, the Basque Country and the Côte d'Azur... He works with Marilyn and both want to return to their roots. In 2015 after the birth of their two daughters, they looked for a place in this Béarnaise region that they love so much. They want to entertain , share their passion for good cuisine and offer luxury accommodation to interact with their guests beyond a simple meal.

They discovered Domaine Mont-Riant and naturally fell in love with it! Two years of development and preparation for this project are necessary. In November 2022, Domaine Mont-Riant welcomes its first guests and the restaurant is open! Located near the town of Pau, but in the countryside, the estate is ideally located for tourism, in peace and surrounded by generous nature.

Charming guest rooms near Pau

Domaine Mont-Riant is located just 10 minutes west of the town of Henri IV. It is located in Jurançon, so it is surrounded by vineyards, in a bucolic environment. 5 guest rooms have been fitted out in the pretty ^19th century bourgeois house. They are real cocoons of softness: bright, they are spacious and enjoy a beautiful view of the wooded park and of Pau and its castle in the distance, with the Pyrenees mountain range.

The rooms are all equipped with King Size bedding, for royal comfort during your stay! Period oak parquet flooring, marble mosaic bathroom, everything is elegance and refinement.

The 2 Suites of 50 and ^70m2 are arranged as a bedroom on one side and a living room on the other. A fireplace or stove promises you warm winter nights. They also have a large bathroom and 2 toilets. Come and relax on your private terrace, with a splendid view.

The 40m2 Junior room ^has 2 showers and 2 separate WCs, a bedroom and a living room with a sofa. It also benefits from a very pretty view.

The 2 guest rooms of 30 and ^35m2 are perfect for couples, they are bright and well exposed, with plenty of storage space.

The guest rooms are in the main house, they are intimate and friendly at the same time. Domaine Mont-Riant is a place conducive to disconnection: Patxi and Marilyn have chosen not to install televisions in their rooms and gîtes. You can go and help yourself in the library or games library, spend some time playing with your family or read a book in one of the common areas or in your accommodation. Of course, WIFI with fiber is available if you bring your equipment. But we recommend that you take advantage of this break, far from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, to completely unwind! Rooms are rented by the night, you can also stay for several days.

Gîtes for a family stay in Jurançon

In addition to the guest rooms, Patxi and Marilyn have converted outbuildings of the castle into apartments and pavilions, which are ideal for a family stay.

These furnished tourist accommodations are all different:

The 4 pavilions are small, comfortable houses, organized in the old stables, with everything you need for your independence and autonomy, while enjoying the atmosphere and services of the estate. 3 T3 and 1 T4 are available. They each have 2 bathrooms per accommodation. Suitable for 3 to 6 people, these are duplexes with 2 bedrooms and a private terrace. A real little holiday home!

2 apartments are located in the old water tower. Atypical and functional accommodation. Perfect for 2 people, they have a mezzanine bedroom.

As in the rooms, no television (by choice), but the possibility of taking advantage of the game library and the domain's library. The apartments and pavilions are rented for a minimum of 2 to 3 nights depending on the time of year.

Guests of the guest rooms and gîtes can come and relax around the superb 17-metre-long swimming pool. It is available to all guests and a 7m paddling pool (included in the swimming pool) will delight young children. The Californian beach is surrounded by grass, furnished with sun loungers and parasols, for resting or sunbathing. Domaine Mont-Riant is in the heart of a large 3-hectare park, ideal for walks. Departures for hikes and mountain bike rides are available in the surrounding area. Be careful, it's climbing and to remedy this, Patxi and Marilyn offer you, through an external service provider, the rental of electric mountain bikes with accompanied ride services.

The Good idea: Come celebrate your wedding , a birthday, a baptism or a cousinship at Domaine Mont-Riant ! It is the ideal place for celebrations with family or friends (up to 50 people). For professional meetings, conferences, seminars and other Team Building, Domaine Mont-Riant has a room equipped with projection equipment.

The Domaine Mont-Riant restaurant, Flaveurs: Gastronomic restaurant in Jurançon

Flaveurs is the restaurant at Domaine Mont-Riant. Patxi is in the kitchen, Marilyn in the dining room and in management, and together they have set up this project which is close to their hearts. Receiving, catering and accommodating guests to share their passion for Béarn and good food, that's the program!

Patxi offers you a very diverse cuisine which gives pride of place to regional products. Market cuisine, with traditional accents. What matters to the couple is customer satisfaction. The Flaveurs restaurant already has a nice clientele of regulars and locals who have their favorite dishes! 35 seats are served indoors and outdoors on sunny days. Everything is homemade from starter to dessert, with local market products. Patxi goes to meet her producers! On Sunday, the formula is always a little different: buffet with ordering of dishes directly from the kitchen, in a simple and friendly way in winter, by the fireplace. Summer is Déjeuner sur l'Herbe, bucolic and rural.

On the wine side, the menu highlights wines from Jurançon and the region in general. A small glass of sweet wine as an aperitif is always appreciated, but restaurateurs also know how to offer very good bottles from all over France, to pair with their dishes.

The ecological commitment of Domaine Mont-Riant

Patxi and Marilyn have made choices that reflect their values regarding environmental protection. The hotel and catering industry can have a strong impact on the use of natural resources and be polluting. To limit their carbon footprint as much as possible (and increasingly), they are implementing actions:

Recycling of waste which is used either to make compost or to feed 3 pigs on the family farm
No consumables and plastic glasses in the accommodation.
Welcome and toiletry products in refillable dispensers
Preparation of a vegetable garden and a space for aromatics, which will be used in the restaurant.
Orchard on the estate with fruit production to make jams and other compotes.
