Lac d'Ayous Nature Reserves in Laruns

    • The Lakes of Ayous form a set of three small lakes located below the Pic d'Ayous: lakes Gentau, du Miey, Roumassot . An essential hike to discover the Oussau Valley and the surroundings of Laruns, guides you in the heart of the Pyrenean landscapes.
      The route is well signposted from Lake Bious-Artigue, accessible by car. You just have to follow the signs "Lacs d'Ayous"; and the GR10. The route forms a loop of about fifteen kilometers.
      It is considered to be of medium difficulty and is therefore intended for good walkers. On the way, the setting is magnificent: the lakes are surrounded by Pyrenean peaks and summits.

    The Ayous Lakes (Lacs d’Ayous) are three small mountain lakes high up in the Pyrenees at nearly 2000 meter altitude in the Béarn region of France, near Laruns, close to the border with Spain. Absolutely breathtakingly beautiful. Not to be missed. Best is to overnight in Laruns, then early morning head out and leave car at the parking Bious Artigues and hike 1-2 hrs (some 5 km) to the lakes.

    Sunset at Lacs d'Ayous with Midi d'Ossau on the back. Easy 2 hour hike to the upper lake, great place to watch sunset and sunrise.

    Very nice views and good round-trip. However mostly very crowded.
