The island of Glère is located on a bend of the Gave d'Oloron in Sauveterre-de-Béarn.
The Gave d'Oloron is an abundant river, which undergoes strong seasonal fluctuations. Islands, of varying sizes, are formed there according to the seasons. Some islands are more perennial. This is the case with Île de la Glère. It is a Sensitive Natural Area, classified and protected by the ONF.
The environment is therefore preserved and you will come across rare tree species. You can access it through a footbridge at the Camping du Gave level.
An exotic stroll awaits you there, with some viewpoints over Sauveterre-de-Béarn.
