Musée Salines de Salies-de-Béarn Dive into the thousand-year-old history of Béarn's white gold

The Salines de Salies-de-Béarn, located in the heart of the salt city, perpetuates an ancestral and traditional production : that of Salies-de-Béarn Salt.

Thanks to its museum space, the Salines immerse visitors in the world of this White Gold, inseparable from local gastronomy. Through its geological origin, its history, its use over the ages or even its link with Bayonne Ham, the Salt of Salies-de-Béarn can be discovered during an audio-guided tour of around 1 hour. A visit punctuated by a tasting of salted meats from the South-West as well as a visit to the shop.

During the summer, during the production season, guided tours are organized by reservation. These tours are an opportunity to wander around the manufacturing site, allowing visitors to observe the different stages of production of this ancient salt.

Practical information:

The museum space is open all year round during the following hours:

•  Monday to Saturday : 9am-12pm / 2:30pm-6pm;
•  Last visits : 11 a.m. in the morning and 4:30 p.m. in the afternoon.

 Closing:

•  Sundays and public holidays;
•  Mondays in January/February;
•  Monday mornings in March, April, November and December.

Guided tours : during the summer period, by reservation.
