Moncaup, the village of fountains

Moncaup boasts an exceptional hydraulic system. In 1833, the municipal council decided, to ensure the water supply of all the districts of the village, the construction of about twenty fountains. The fountain is sometimes supplemented by a drinking trough or a washhouse, then the water resumes its course towards the Adour. The quality of the materials: stone, brick, pebble and wood, and the implementation: facade stones, brick vaults and pebble walls, demonstrate a skill that has now disappeared.

4 hiking circuits of 3 to 7 km lead you to discover 9 fountains, which sometimes have a drinking trough or a washhouse. You will cross the vineyards and the woods, while enjoying superb viewpoints. Also discover the lit church with 7 stained glass windows by René-Marie Castaing.
