Maison Carrée Museums in Nay

La Maison Carrée, a Renaissance mansion, takes you into a timeless atmosphere. You will wander there between corridors and covered galleries from another time, you will contemplate the harmony of the volumes, you will discover the history of the region and you will be surprised by the temporary exhibitions.

The Industry Museum is devoted to the contemporary period. From the end of the 18th century to the present day: techniques, know-how and textile production around the main themes of wool (beret, wool from the Pyrenees, capulet...), linen (Basque linen, espadrilles...) or hemp.

You will learn that furniture manufacturers even furnished the living rooms of the Titanic or the palaces of the Near East. That our Piedmont peasants were not satisfied with plowing their fields but made in workshops the famous boxwood beads intended for the rosaries of Lourdes or... Mecca!
