The greenway of Béarn des Gaves

In this landscape, shaped by the Gave d'Oloron river, in the heart of the Béarn des Gaves region, the old railway line has been transformed into a greenway. Starting from Saliès-de-Béarn, one of the most beautiful villages, nicknamed " The Venice of Béarn," a 16 km round-trip family walk awaits you. But there are other access points if you wish to shorten it.

The route, both flat and shaded, stretches to Cassaber, crossing wooded areas and peaceful meadows. It offers a complete immersion in the Béarn countryside. Ideal for cyclists, walkers, or families with strollers, this safe route allows you to discover small railway engineering marvels while enjoying the refreshing waters of the Gave d'Oloron, the true guiding thread of this bucolic getaway in the heart of the Pyrénées-Atlantiques.

The Pyrenean Foothills Cycle Route

In the Pays de Nay region, it allows you to explore the Pyrenees National Park. It is also the first mountain range cycle route. Starting from Lestelle-Betharram, it goes to Baliros, covering 25 km, including 12 km on a greenway.

This exceptional stretch winds between the rushing waters of the Gave de Pau and majestic peaks, offering cyclists a safe route with moderate elevation gain. Between historic fortified towns and pastoral landscapes, this section of the V81 provides a spectacular gateway to the mountains, combining Pyrenean cultural heritage with immersive experiences for a gentle journey accessible to all levels.

The Calvary of Bétharram

Located near the cycle route, the Bétharram Calvary is a 25 km walk, suitable for children. Its 15 stations allow you to stop and enjoy the peace and quiet of this sanctuary.

This spiritual and historical trail, a listed Historic Monument, gently climbs the hillside, promising walkers breathtaking views of the Gave de Pau river and the surrounding Pyrenean peaks. Between unspoiled nature and remarkable religious architecture, this getaway in the heart of the Nay plain is an unmissable experience, perfectly combining cultural enrichment, outdoor relaxation, and an underground adventure for young and old alike.

The cycling routes of the Ossau Valley

In the Pyrenean Valleys, the local council provides downloadable cycling routes. Starting from Laruns, Bielle, Louvie-Juzon, and other locations, there's something for everyone, from easy greenways to challenging climbs, from the shortest (less than 3 km) to the longest (60 km), and for all tastes: mountain passes, loops, and more.

Mountain biking in the heart of Béarn

The heart of Béarn is a land of traditions, marked by its vineyards: Madiran, Pacherenc, and even Jurançon. The tourist office lists routes, from leisurely walks along interpretive trails to more challenging mountain biking routes. A wonderful opportunity to visit charming villages like Lescun, or Morlanne with its castle.
